My speaking events for June include the official book launch for China’s Economic Supertrends, an event for entrepreneurs and a book talk focusing on China’s New Manufacturing Supertrends. Two of these events are happening on June 9th, and both are important to me, for different reasons:

June 9th, Saturday morning, 9 a.m. @ Junior World Entrepreneurship Forum – Shanghai 2012 (full event info here):

I will be giving the keynote presentation on the topic of low-income urban entrepreneurship, discussing how to encourage new types of business for those at the bottom of the pyramid in China’s growing cities. This keynote will feature new photographs from the China Supertrends Photography Project. I will also be moderating the panel for the speakers in the first half of the morning session. This is an important topic and panel for me to be involved with because I have seen and been inspired by so many entrepreneurs in China who started with much less than I could have imagined when I started my own business. Register here.

June 9th, Saturday afternoon, 3 p.m – 6 p.m. @ the book and ebook launch party for China’s Economic Supertrends (full event info here and here):

This is something of a milestone for every author: the book launch party. It is a chance to invite friends, colleagues and others in order to thank those who have helped, apologize to those who had to put up with the writer’s sometimes irascible behavior, and (two literary-themed cliches here) close the book on the writing process and start a new chapter in the writer’s life. There will be all that and more, including a lucky draw, as well as a chance to sample the Four Seasons Hotel’s excellent catering and spa facilities. Unfortunately this event is not actually open to the public; I put it on my personal blog here for any friends and colleagues whom I might have forgotten to invite. Send me an email if you would like to attend.

June 28th, Thursday lunch book talk with the Global Supply Chain Council and Cha1n, the Supply Chain Council SocialĀ  Network:

Readers of my first book, Supertrends of Future China, may recall I co-wrote it with Dr. James Yuann, the former AP CEO of Honeywell Specialty Materials. With his background in manufacturing in China and my background working as a consultant with Honeywell and for a number of procurement companies, we made manufacturing trends a major part of our book. For China’s Economic Supertrends, I have written a chapter called the New Manufacturing Supertrends which revisits the ideas and adds a number of new angles affecting manufacturing strategy. I will be talking about my updated perspective on manufacturing in China at this luncheon book talk hosted by the Global Supply Chain Council’s CHA1N social network. More information and how to register for this event can be found at this link.

If you are unable to attend one of the above events, please keep reading here for other events in June and throughout the rest of the summer. I have potentially big announcements coming up about other speaking engagements and the official book tour.
